Night of mannequins5/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Manny has been with them since they were children and Sawyer reminisces countless pranks on people in which Manny is left fully clothes on someone’s yard only to be found by a bemused owner the next day. They call him, among other things, Manny (yes, the brilliant ideas don’t stop there). They pay for tickets this time, and sneak into the cinema an old mannequin they found years ago while playing. It is a brilliant idea then, when Sawyer and the rest of the group decide to pull a last prank on Shanna, you know as a thank you for letting them watch movies for free a bunch of times. But soon they are discovered and blacklisted by those running the venue and Shanna gets into trouble for letting them in. The group regularly manages to sneak into movies for free thanks to Shanna, their friend working there. ![]() Sawyer is the protagonist and our narrator. It starts with a group of teenagers one of who works at a cinema. Also, the part with the horses are beautifully written, I’m an animal lover, so every time animals are involved is already a plus for me. The author built up the intimacy slowly over the massaging and treatment of the arm stump until there were coming feelings they both didn't expect in the first place. I loved the way they interacted with each other, how they bonded after the initial repulse from Britt. Teddy and Britt are both well-developed characters and their chemistry was great. I could go on and on about this book but I don’t want to keep you here. ![]() Their emotional connection was just lovely…. I thought she was the perfect person for Britt to lean on. Teddy is also super smart, caring, generous and special. ![]() Britt is so special, a brave, strong, torn, grieving, loving and smart woman who just wants to heal and get justice for the wrong doing she saw. It was just so good! I found myself worried about the characters, celebrating with them and generally thrilled by them. I loved this book! The story was captivating and I was immediately immersed in it. This story has it all, a lost and damaged woman in uniform, a woman who can help her heal in all ways, medical drama, romance and of course horses! What’s not to love?
